The
Objectives of Voter Education The
Election Act No. 11 of 1984 empowers the Zanzibar Electoral Commission
to promote and coordinate voter education being one of its important
responsibilities in an administrative and supervisory business of
the Zanzibar Election. The Commission has been invested with that
power under section 5 (b) of the Election Act, 1984. In implementing
that responsibility, the Commission had ensured that people are
being furnished with enough directives, explanations and analysis
of election issues that will enable them to participate fully in
various stages of election.
In
order to ensure that Voter Education reach to the people in every
corner, the Zanzibar Electoral Commission use various communicative
ways to send the direct message through seminars, debates, and art
theatre groups and other methods through radio and television broadcasting
programs. The responsibility of providing voter education implement
by the Electoral Commission, in the registration of voters and in
the election.
